I loaded data onto it, and it was reading and writting fine. I then needed to put a different drive into the enclosure, when I went back to the first drive, it wanted me to format it. When I go into the disk manager, it says that it is totally empty. I used demo hard drive recovery software and the data is there! What can I do to make the data accessible again? I would like to know the other methods of extracting the data from a hard drive that isnt working. It started with the tick of death, and before I could transfer the files out to another hard drive it stopped being recognized and started clicking loudly. I have heard of the old put the hard drive in a freezer bag and freeze it theory which is hilarious, also the possibility of taking off the cover and carefully rotating the disks carefully to see if the motor stopped the disks from turning,which I may end up doing. I refuse to send the disk to hard drive recovery companies to that they can charge $2000 for the service, if they can do it, then that means there is a solution...anybody have any?
Quick side note, this hard drive is a external used for storage only, no OS on the drive.
