I have a internal and external HDD that have failed -at separate times- They have a lot of family videos and photos as well as a good deal of my portfolio work, I work in animation and video effects. so there is a lot of stuff I cannot replace on these drives.
The drives are making various clicking noises and cannot be accessed I have determined that they are most likely a mechanical issue what price range am I looking at to get these repaired? By this I mean the clean room repair -i can only asume I will pay through the rear- but what price range am I looking at? Also I have a decent deal of sensitive info on the drives and was wondering what the privacy looks like with the recovery of the files. ie do they keep copies view files or what, for those of you knowlegeable to the process.

I was looking into data recovery places and i came across this site. Does anyone with experience know how much it would be to recover just a few gigabytes (at most 2) Or are there any electronic stores that you know that provide this service? (Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.)

My hard drive took a fall a while back, and now I am left wondering if the data is recoverable. The drive still spins, and doesn't make any bad noises, so I know thats a good sign, but it doesn't show up in Windows. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good software for recovering files from the drive. Also, if anyone knows of a program that has a free trial that shows me all the files that it would be able to recover if I actually brought the program, that would be ideal. thanks
